ROCKFORD, Ill. – The MSOE men's and women's rowing teams traveled to the Head of the Rock Regatta this past Sunday to compete in their largest competition so far this fall. The Raiders faced tough crews from other schools but walked away with some excellent race experience to bring into the final competitions of the fall 2022 season.
MSOE men's rowing had 2 boats in action on Sunday. The collegiate 4+ fielded by coxswain Owen Podziemski, Wesley Salverson, Patrick Hayes, Trey Miller and Ian Wright took 12th place while the men's collegiate 8+ comprised of coxswain Podziemski, Salverson, Hayes, Miller, Wright, Aidan Roth, Deepansh Agarwal, Zach Hatseras and Ryan Burleson took 11th place.
The women's team also raced collegiate 4+ and collegiate 8+ boats. The 4+ team of coxswain Nicole Harris, Monique Landry, Sabrina Lutz, Elise McMahon and Veronica Skinner took home 8th place while the 8+ raced by Harris, Laundry, Lutz, McMahon, Skinner, Tiffany Dabrowski, Polina Vyucheiskaia, Katerina Flierl, and Annika West placed 11th. Both crews made excellent progress and set some important benchmarks for the remainder of the season.
Together both teams also boated a crew in the mixed open 8+ event consisting of coxswain Agarwal, Roth, Hatseras, Burleson, Vyucheiskaia, Dabrowski, West, Flierl, and Thomas Nord. Despite never having rowed together the crew took 8th place in the event amongst a diverse and challenging field.
Weather and wind provided exceptional race conditions and all crews performed well for an overall great day of racing.

The Raiders will wrap up the fall portion of their season when they travel to the Head of the Hooch Regatta in Chattahoochee, Tenn. on November 5th and 6th.
