HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a back and forth affair for MSOE (5-2, 3-1 NCHA) this evening against their rivals from just up the road as they faced off against Concordia Wisconsin (2-7, 2-2). The non-conference matchup started with power play goals from each team in the first period with the Raiders strike credited to Kyle Herbster and assists going to Christian Sabin and Gramm McCormack.
- The Raiders started the second frame strong and netted back to back goals just over a minute apart. Kevin Paganini got the Red & White's second extra man goal of the evening thanks to Carson Jones and Cole Beilke before Jack Karges scored the first of his career with helpers from Steve Guo and Dylan Hadfield.
- CUW would not go down without a fight, however. The road team scored the next three to not only tie the game but also took the lead at 4-3. MSOE answered right back with another power play goal from Herbster (Matt Hanewall, Sabin). The senior alternate captain then closed out a crazy second frame and earned the first hat trick of his career with another strike with seven seconds left before the intermission with assists going to Sabin and Beilke.
- Up 5-4, the Raiders added an insurance goal with their fourth extra man strike of the evening when Sabin (Herbster, McCormack) found the back of the net with three minutes left to secure the Red & White's fifth win of the season with a 6-4 decision.
