Box Score MILWAUKEE – MSOE men's hockey looked to get above .500 for the first time this year after going 1-1 to open the season last weekend when they welcomed Lake Forest to the Kern Center. A solid offensive attack and another brick wall performance in net allowed the Raiders to easily take home the 3-0 shutout of the Foresters on Friday evening.
FINAL SCORE
Lake Forest – 0
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (2-1-0, 1-0 NCHA) limited the Lake Forest (2-1-1, 0-1 NCHA) attack to just eight shots in the first two periods meaning that as long as the Raiders got some offense of their own, they'd be in pretty good shape. The Red & White started their balanced scoring with a Brennan Dickey power play goal at 17:47 in the first period with assists going to Kyle Herbster and Christian Sabin, marking the first time that MSOE had scored on special teams this year
- The second goal once again came on the power play but this time in the middle frame. Cole Beilke set up Kevin Paganini for the juniors second goal of the campaign to make it 2-0 Raiders with 13 minutes left to play before the second intermission.
- The Red & White closed out their scoring with an empty goal as the clock ticked down in the contest. Gramm McCormack netted his second of the year as Kyle Herbster picked up his second helper of the game in the 3-0 victory.
- The Raider defense had another strong performance and limited the Foresters to 19 total shots and shut LFC down on four extra man opportunities.
RAIDER REMARKS
- After going winless in their last two games against the Foresters, the Raiders are back on track. They are now 4-3-3 in their last ten games against their conference foe.
- Goalie Austin Schwab has now pitched back-to-back shutouts to begin his collegiate career with the Raiders. He has turned away a total of 45 shots in that span.
