NORTHFIELD, Minn. – MSOE men's hockey headed to the North Star State for their last two games of the calendar year and wanted to start things off right when they faced off against (RV) St. Olaf. The Raiders faced a 2-1 deficit after one period but quickly turned things around and left the Oles in the dust with a 5-2 Red & White win on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• MSOE (8-4) jumped out to a very early 1-0 lead this evening when Matt Hanewall and Stuart Harley set up Christian Sabin for the games first goal just four and a half minutes into the contest. Unfortunately, (RV) St. Olaf (8-3-1) would answer right back. The Oles scored the next two, turning the Raiders one goal lead into a deficit of the same amount within a span of eight minutes.
• The Red & White were determined not to go down so easily though. MSOE stormed back with four straight goals of their own to take complete control of the game. The first two strikes in the comeback both came on the power play in the second frame. First was Sabin scoring his second of the game from Dylan Hadfield and Kyle Herbster before Hanewall and Hadfield helped out on Gramm McCormack's first of the contest.
• The third featured another two Raider tallies as they widened the gap between themselves and the host squad. Cole Beilke netted the Red & White's fourth goal thanks to an assist from McCormack before McCormack ended the scoring with an empty net goal from CJ Kline and Preston Park.
• Nick Stofcheck got the nod in net and stopped 16 of the 18 shots he faced as the Raiders get back into the win column with a three goal victory in Minnesota.

RAIDER REMARKS

• This was the first game between MSOE and St. Olaf since the 2000-01 season and also served as the Red & White's first win over the Oles in three chances.
• The win tonight was the Raiders first of the year over a team who was receiving votes in the national USCHO.com poll.
