DAVENPORT, Fla. – The 2022 spring trip rolled on for MSOE baseball on Tuesday as they took on Widener in a doubleheader back in Davenport, Fla. The Raiders didn't have much luck against the Pride however, enduring a tough game one loss before falling by nine in the second contest of the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• GAME ONE
  
  • MSOE (2-3) grabbed an early lead in the first contest of the day, scoring the opening run on a Collin Truitt homer before Micah Overley doubled in two during the third.
  • Brandon Besch then scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to put the Red & White up 4-0 with six outs to get.
  • Widener (5-6) had some fight in them however and stormed back to tie the game with four runs in their last at-bats. After a quiet top of the eighth for MSOE, Widener hit a walk off homer to grab the 5-4 victory.
• GAME TWO
  • After dealing with the heartbreaking loss, the Raiders played from behind the entire time in game two.
  • The Pride scored six runs in the top of the second inning and collected ten in total by the fourth inning.
  • The Raiders cut a 10-2 deficit down to just 10-6 when they tallied four in the bottom half of the fourth, highlighted by a Brandon Beauchamp two run homer.
  • The Red & White wouldn't get any closer than that though, as Widener added five more runs to sweep the action on the diamond.

WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will have tomorrow off before going at it with Wartburg one more time in a traditional nine-inning contest on Thursday. That ballgame will start at 11:30 am eastern in Davenport, Fla.
