Season Overview
As the Raiders have had many team victories throughout the regular season, it all builds to this meet this weekend. The Raiders fell short last season by just half a point, but with many athletes already in high scoring positions going into the weekend, it could be another team victory and the first NACC championship indoor since 2011.
Events To Watch
- Sprints
- Isaac Hunter with his 6.94 60-meter dash time two weeks ago is the top time going into the weekend, as Evan Ploeckelman is tied for third in the event with 7.01. The two along with Daniel Burant can all show their depth in the 200-meter dash as all three have potential to score. Burant also is all-conference position in the 400-meter dash, with a seed time of 51.82.
- Distance
- Two different groups of distance crews can help stack a multitude of points for the Raiders this weekend. In the middle-distance category, Adam Shaw currently has the top seeds in both the 800-meter run and the mile, with Brett Litkey who is sitting in All-Conference striking position in both as well. Patrick Lee and Colby Branch both have potential for All-Conference honors after the weekend as well in the 3,000-meter run and 5,000-meter run, as the Raiders could potentially total five scorers in each of those events.
- Jumps
- Grayson Adams had big personal best at the John Tierney Classic a month ago and has a chance to be All-Conference with his mark from that meet. Tyler McManus is also in that same situation in both the long jump and triple jump, as he's seeded fourth and third in those events respectively.
- Throws
- Freshman Gavin Fritsch can make a big state in his first NACC championship as he has the top seed going into the weekend in the Weight Throw with a toss of 16.31m, along with sitting third in the Shot Put (14.05m). Keegan Rhodes is another name to look for the Weight Throw, as he sits third currently.
- Multi
- After resetting his school record earlier this season, Tyler Brantner is set to make his return to add points for the Raiders and total points for a hopeful trip to Birmingham. Brantner will also compete in the long jump and triple jump this weekend, where he sits second in both events.
