Men Tie for Conference Championship; Women Tie for Third

RIPON, Wis. – In a team battle that went all the way to end, the MSOE track and field teams had some of their highest finishes in years, as the men tied for 1st place for the first time since 2011 while the women tied for 3rd for the time since 2019.

MEN'S TEAM RECAP

  • Tyler Brantner got the weekend started rebreaking his school record in the Heptathlon, scoring 4,738 points to now sit 17th nationally. He followed up that performance by winning the long jump with a distance 6.73m and second in the high jump with a height of 1.91m. Brantner was named Co-Male Field MVP of the meet with his performance.
  • Two other Raiders were double-champions this weekend as well as Adam Shaw won both the Mile (4:20.18) and the 800-meter run (1:58.36), along with Isaac Hunter who won both the 60-meter dash (6.93) and the 200-meter dash (22.52). Shaw was named Male Track MVP, while Hunter was just .01 from the school record in the 60-meter dash.
  • Gavin Fritsch won the weight throw with a toss of 16.41m and Keegan Rhodes earned all-conference honors with a third place throw of 13.83m in the shot put. Collin Hook rebroke his school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.74 to finish third, while Evan Ploeckelman finished second in the 60-meter dash (7.06). Daniel Burant took third in the 400-meter dash (51.03) and Brett Litkley took third in the mile with a personal best 4:23.86. Xander Gottner broke the school record in the 5,000-meter run (15:16.40) and Colby Branch and Patrick had a 2-3 finish in the 3,000-meter run, running 8:52.14 and 8:52.95 respectively.

WOMEN'S TEAM RECAP  

  • Kaitlyn Rodman broke two of her own school records this weekend, winning the 3,000-meter run (10:32.49) while finishing third in the mile (5:09.26). Katrina Wawrzyn tied the school record in the Shot Put with a toss of 13.08m to finish second, while Elizabeth Mikkelson finished second in the weight throw, tossing 15.17m. Grace Menzia was the last all-conference performer for the Raiders, jumping 3.05m in the pole vault to finish third.
  • Other high placing competitors for the Raiders was Molly Stewart in both the 3,000-meter run (10:58.61) and 5,000-meter run (19:12.27), MacKenzie Bollis in the 400-meter dash (1:02.34), Mackenzie Caves in the triple jump (10.94m), Josephine Jacklin in the shot put (12.64m), and Ava Larson in the weight throw (14.35m)

What's Next

Brantner will look for a potential birth for the NCAA Indoor National Championship in Birmingham, Alabama on March 10-11.
