GLENDALE, Wis. - Freshman Ben Clarke hit .882 in the day's second match to lead the MSOE men's volleyball team to a split of matches on the first day of the Stritch Invitational, Friday at Cardinal Stritch.

The Raiders (9-6) struggled in the opening match, falling to Clarke (14-2) in straight sets, 25-17, 25-13, 25-13. They rebounded for a five-set victory over Hannibal-LaGrange (5-13), 25-21, 19-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-4.

Clarke led three MSOE players in double-figures against HLGU, tallying 15 kills on just 17 attacks with no errors. Sophomore Logan Baerenwald attacked at a .480 clip with 17 kills, while freshman Neil Naughton added 13 kills to the attack.

Freshman Quin Krisik finished with 53 assists and had six service aces in the match.

Three Trojans tallied 12 kills apiece in Shaquille Lotte, Joao Sales Neto and Felipe Oliveira.

The teams alternated sets in the match, with MSOE closing out the match with an emphatic 15-4 score in the decisive set. The Red & White hit .600, while limiting HLGU to -.294 attacking in the frame.

For the Match, the Raiders outhit the Trojans .294 to .168.

Against Clarke, the Crusaders hit .438 in sweeping past MSOE. Tyler Willis led them with 14 kills on 15 attacks for a .933 attack percentage. Meanwhile, the Raider attack could not get going, hitting .108 for the match with no player registering more than four kills.

MSOE continues play at the Stritch Invitational Saturday against Morningside at 1:30 p.m. The tournament then closes against the host Wolves at 5:30 p.m.
