MILWAUKEE - Freshman Neil Naughton tallied 18 kills and hit .640 as the MSOE men's volleyball team swept the final three sets in handing Fontbonne a 22-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-14 defeat Friday evening at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (8-1, 1-0 MCVL) defeated the Griffins (3-4, 0-1 MCVL) for their eighth-straight victory and opened the MCVL era with a win.

Naughton had an efficient night, committing just two errors in the match. Senior Nick Manning added 13 kills and service aces in the match, while freshman Quin Krisik ran the offense with 49 assists and had five aces.

Aaron Graue was the lone Fontbonne player with double-digit kills with 10, while the visitors faced a 56-26 discrepancy in kills for the match.

After the Griffins took the first set, the Raiders opened the second set on the front foot and played from ahead for most of the frame. After five ties, MSOE started to gradually pull away throughout the rest of the set.

The Raiders jumped out to big leads early in taking the final two sets. Krisik served them to a 6-0 lead, including three aces, in set two. Manning then followed with five-straight serves and two aces as the home team built an 11-1 lead. Then, in set three, MSOE had runs of three, four and five-straight points in jumping out to a 14-5 lead and never looked back.

The Red & White attacked at a .272 clip in the match, tallying 30 more kills on the night. The team also totaled 13 aces. Defensively, it limited Fontbonne to .067 attacking, including .000 percentages in the second and third sets and a -.050 mark in the decisive frame.

The Raiders return to the court Saturday, hosting Mount St. Joseph at 2 p.m.
