LISLE, Ill. - Senior Nick Manning had 15 kills and freshman Ben Clarke hit .667 as the MSOE men's volleyball team overcame a first-set loss to defeat Benedictine 21-25, 25-21, 21-14, 25-18 Sunday afternoon at the Rice Center.

The Raiders (10-8, 2-4 MCVL) defeated the Eagles (4-10, 2-5 MCVL) for the third time this season, but the first time in conference play.

In addition to Manning and Clarke, who had 11 kills and just one error in 15 attacks, sophomore Joe Humpal also reached double-figures in kills with 12. He also had an efficient afternoon, hitting .556 in the match.

Freshman Quin Krisik directed the offense with 50 assists, as well as four service aces and nine digs. Manning added 12 digs for a double-double.

Sterling Glover led Benedictine with 13 kills, while Eric Tarnow added 10.

In the first set, the Eagles pulled away with five-straight points to break a 19-19 tie and pull away at the end. The Raiders rebounded in the second set, taking an early lead and pushing their advatage to six at 19-13 with three-straight points. The advantage would top out at 24-17 as they fended off four-straight BenU points to closed out the frame.

In the third set, MSOE opened on a 7-2 and quickly went on an 8-2 stretch to take a 16-8 lead that the home team could not overcome. Another 8-2 run to close the set gave the Red & White the 2-1 lead in the match. It then finished the final set, and the match, strong by expanding on a 19-17 lead with a 6-2 run to end the match.

The Raiders outhit the Eagles .209 to .156 in the match and racked up 23 more kills (56-33).

MSOE returns to the court Tuesday at Loras.
