MSOE Swept by Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. – The MSOE men's volleyball team pushed Carthage to extra points in the opening set, but could not overcome the home team in a three-set loss Tuesday evening at Tarble Arena.

The Raiders (11-9, 3-5 MCVL) fell in the opening set 28-26, but could not bounce back against the Red Men (12-4, 9-0 MCVL) in the final two sets, 25-19, 25-18.

Senior Nick Manning and freshman Neil Naughton led MSOE with 11 kills apiece. Freshman Quin Krisik had 34 assists.

Griffin Shields had a match-best 15 kills for Carthage.

Despite falling in three sets, the Raiders had six more kills (40-34) than the home team, but doubled the amount of attack errors (24-12). The Red Men finished the match with a .272 to .168 lead in hitting percentage.

MSOE shook off an early six-point deficit in the opening set to play equally with the home team down the stretch, equaling the score at 20-20 for the first of five ties down the stretch. The Red & White couldn't overcome a .414 attack percentage by Carthage in the second set and hit just .107 in the final frame.

The Raiders return to action Saturday, hosting a triangular with Lakeland and Kean.
