Box Score MILWAUKEE - Senior Nick Manning had 15 kills and freshman Quin Krisik had 40 assists over three sets as the No. 15 MSOE men's volleyball team swept past No. 12 Dominican 25-17, 26-24, 25-17 Wednesday evening at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (14-10, 5-5 MCVL) hosted a ranked team for the third-straight match and downed the Stars (11-9, 6-3 MCVL) for their second win in that stretch.
Freshman Bryant Holland added 10 kills and freshman Neil Naughton tallied nine with no errors and a .562 attack percentage. Krisik posted a double-double with 11 digs, as well.
Luke Spicer paced the Dominican attack with nine kills.
MSOE came out of the gates strong, hitting .400 with 16 kills in the opening set, while limiting DU to just 0.86 attacking. The Raiders did not have many extended runs, but won with several 3-0 runs to overcome an early deficit and gradually pull away.
In the second set, The Red & White led early, but found themselves trailing 22-21 late after three-straight Dominican points. The Raiders overtook the visitors with back-to-back points for a 24-23 lead. After a Star point forced fended off a set point, the home team took a 2-0 lead in the match with back-to-back points.
Dominican was determined to get back into the match in the third set, scoring the first three points and leading through the early stages. It was a 5-0 Raider run that turned a 10-8 deficit into a 13-10 advantage. MSOE then pulled away with a 3-0 run for an 18-12 lead and pair of 2-0 spurts to eventually see a 23-15 edge.
The Red & White hit .458 in claiming the final set with 12 kills against just one error. The team finished at .363 for the night, tallying 46 kills over the three sets. Dominican finished with 32 kills and .160 attacking.
The Raiders return to the court Sunday, hosting Loras at 2 p.m.
