Raider Defense Shines In Pair of Sweeps

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The MSOE men's volleyball dominated a pair of matches defensively in posting two three-set sweeps on the final day of the Jim Coleman Invitational Saturday at Wittenberg University.

The Raiders (3-3) swept new conference foe North Central in the opener, 25-22, 25-14, 25-18, then brushed aside Eastern Mennonite, 25-13, 25-19, 25-20, to finish the tournament 3-0.

MSOE limited NCC to a negative attack percentage, as the Cardinals finished at -.038. The Raiders posted nearly twice as many kills (35-18) and did not allow their opponent to attack at a positive clip in any set.

Junior Scott Boyk led the attack with eight kills. Sophomore Bryant Holland had seven kills, while sophomore Quin Krisik posted a double-double of 20 assists and 10 digs.

Then, in the second match, the Red & White attack put together an all-around efficient effort to close out the tournament. The Raiders attacked at a .400 clip for the match with just seven errors. Holland notched another eight kills with three aces. Boyk and sophomore Neil Naughton had five kills apiece, with Naughton's coming on just eight attacks with no errors (.625).

MSOE returns to the court at home, hosting Olivet Friday evening to start a busy weekend at the Kern Center.
