Box Score MILWAUKEE – Three players tallied double-digits in kills and three more in digs as the MSOE men's volleyball team outlasted Lakeland through five sets, 25-27, 25-18, 25-23, 22-25, 15-17, Wednesday night at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (6-3, 5-1 NACC) put together their third-straight win, limiting Lakeland to just .108 attacking on the night.
Senior Bryant Holland posted a double-double of 13 kills and 16 digs in the match. Senior Sam Stealey had 11 kills and four service aces while sophomore Jake Christensen tallied 10 kills.
Sophomore Danny Martens finished with 16 digs and junior Sean Runyon had 10 as MSOE posted a season-high 74 digs in the match.
Dakota Hunter paced Lakeland with 12 kills and 18 digs. Cameron Ekum nearly had a triple-double with nine kills, 11 assists, and nine digs.
After surrendering the first set to the Muskies, MSOE rebounded to take the second game. The team rebounded from a 9-5 deficit with a 6-1 run and added a 7-1 run later on to pull away. It then scored the final three points of the frame to even the match at 1-1.
It was another tight game in the fourth, with the Raiders scoring back-to-back points to break a 20-20 tie and gain the advantage down the stretch as the teams traded points until the Red & White prevailed.
LU pulled even in the match by winning the fourth game, slowly pulling away.
In the decisive fifth game, MSOE broke a 3-3 tie with an emphatic 10-2 run to run away with the frame.
The Raiders attacked .202 as a team, hitting above .200 in four of the sets, with 55 kills. They also had seven aces in the match. Lakeland picked up 48 kills but was forced into 30 errors. The Muskies had 79 digs.
MSOE returns to action with a pair of home matches Friday, hosting Quincy at 3 p.m. and Concordia Wisconsin at 7 p.m.
