Men's Volleyball Cages Cougars In Three Set Win

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – All good things must come to an end. But the end of the No. 11 MSOE men's volleyball five game homestand doesn't hold a candle to their current winning streak. The Raiders wasted no time in sending St. Xavier packing on Saturday night, taking their fifth straight game and second straight minimum set decision.

RESULTS
St. Xavier – 0 (24, 20, 21)
#11 MSOE – 3 (26, 25, 25)

HOW IT HAPPENED
It took a set to warm up, but No. 11 MSOE (5-0, 0-0 NACC) had no issue dispatching St. Xavier (6-2, 3-0 CCAC) this evening inside a packed Hotchkin Arena. The first set between the two squads did go into extra points, as the Raiders were not able to take complete advantage of the Cougars nine errors in the frame. The Red & White were outkilled 13-10 but had five less errors to avoid the upset to start the contest. MSOE went from hitting .152 in the first to attacking at a .265 clip in the second and had 14 kills to show for their efforts compared to just five errors. SXU hit better as well but still had more errors than the good guys as the Raiders earned their easiest set win of the night. Head coach Shane Reid tried out several different servers throughout the match, but especially in the third. The Raiders had just nine service errors, a sharp reduction from the 31 from the night before. The offense shined in the last frame, bringing home game highs in kills (16) and hitting percentage (.382) on their way to their third 3-0 win of the season.
