Box Score MILWAUKEE – After yet another postponement on Tuesday, the Raiders men's volleyball team hit the Hotchkin Arena playing surface for the fourth straight time to take on Rockford in the two teams first ever meeting. MSOE had no issues against the Regents, cruising to victory in a match that took only 57 minutes.
RESULT
Rockford – 0 (11, 14, 18)
MSOE RAIDERS – 3 (25, 25, 25)
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (5-3, 4-1 NACC) dominated in tonight's contest against a winless Rockford (0-7, 0-6 NACC) team, though the Regents did make things interesting in the third and final set of the evening. The Raiders hit a lights out .412 to start off the match, creating only one error for themselves compared to the Regents -.080 hitting percentage and seven miscues. The first set also saw a 10-0 Red & White run which was something of a trend tonight. Though they had a negative attack percentage in the second frame, MSOE still went on another extended run, 9-0 this time to pull away when Rockford was only down by four. The third and final stanza of the evening was much more competitive, though this was partially due to head coach Shane Reid sitting his starters and allowing the underclassmen to get some experience out on the hardcourt. The Regents trailed for most of the match before tying it at 16-16, but the Raiders came out with a strong response after a timeout and won the next nine of 11 points to end the ballgame in straight sets.
