Raiders Hook Muskies In Straight Sets

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – The 15th ranked MSOE men's volleyball squad returned to the Kern Center tonight after a disappointing loss to Marian earlier in the week. The past was the past though and tonight they had the Muskies of Lakeland in their sights. The Raiders made quick work of the Fish, earning their third NACC win of the season.

RESULT
Lakeland – 0 (12, 19, 18)
#15 MSOE RAIDERS – 3 (25, 25, 25)

HOW IT HAPPENED
#15 MSOE (4-2, 3-1 NACC) led wire to wire in the first set, hitting a lights out .500 along the way. Lakeland (2-4, 2-3 NACC) on the other hand had a hard time getting out of the gates. The Muskies hit just .143 in the 25-12 loss and had five errors, a total that they would match in sets two and three. It was much more of a back-and-forth affair in the second with eight ties and five lead changes, but the Raiders were able to create some separating distance towards the end of the set to win by six. Each team had their worst attack percentage in the final stanza, but for the Red & White that figure was still a very solid .261. MSOE servers forced 10 reception errors and five different Raiders registered at least five kills as the good guys win in straight sets.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • Junior Jacob Sirny tallied a total of six aces tonight, five of which came in the first frame. He was just one away from entering the top five in single game program history.
