Box Score ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – MSOE men's volleyball was on the road for the first time looking to keep their record clean just three days removed from their season opener. A .323 hitting percentage and 18 Augustana (Ill.) errors allowed them to do just that with a 3-0 win in western Illinois.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 3 (25-25-25)
Augustana (Ill.) – 0 (23-15-15)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It's always a good sign when the first set of the night was also the toughest. MSOE (2-0) weathered the Augustana (0-2) storm with 12 kills and a .269 hitting percentage to start the match with a 25-23 victory.
- From there on out it was smooth sailing. The Red & White started off the middle frame of the evening on a 17-6 run and held the Vikings to 15 points overall.
- 15 was the magic number in the third and final set as well. Once again MSOE held the home team to that figure and put the match away by slamming home a game high 13 kills, winning their second straight match to start the season with a 3-0 score.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Raiders are a perfect 4-0 all time against Augustana in a series that started back during the 2019 season. All but one match has been a 3-0 MSOE victory.
- Seven different Red & White players registered at least two kills tonight.
