Box Score MILWAUKEE – MSOE men's volleyball had a tough test ahead of them when they welcomed No. 2 Dominican to the Kern Center for a crucial NACC matchup. The Raiders were up for the challenge and lost two sets that could have gone either way but in the end it was the Stars that shined brightest in their 3-1 defeat of the Red & White.
RESULT
No. 2 Dominican – 3 (25 | 21 | 25 | 25)
MSOE RAIDERS – 1 (23 | 25 | 13 | 23)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (14-9, 8-3 NACC) had their chances this evening against the second-best team in the nation in Dominican (21-1, 11-0 NACC). While the Raiders trailed for most of the first set, they stayed within striking distance until the very end. Unfortunately, they couldn't close the two-point gap in their first 25-23 loss of the evening.
- The Red & White learned from their mistakes and took off running in game two. MSOE hit a match high .273 and had 15 kills compared to six errors. The Stars climbed back from an early deficit to draw within one at 10-9 but the Raiders went on a tear the rest of the way and took home the four-tally set win.
- For a good as set two was, set three was the exact opposite. The Red & White committed five more errors than kills and went down in the match 2-1 behind a 25-13 defeat.
- The Raiders had a chance to salvage things however and go to five sets behind another strong performance in the fourth frame. It was another back-and-forth affair that saw MSOE ahead as much as 15-9 in the middle stages. Dominican finished strong though and ended the match on a 16-8 run to win the set 25-23 and claim the NACC regular season crown.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The rivalry between MSOE and Dominican has been a storied one. However, the Stars have took home the last four wins and eight out of the last ten.
