Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The 2021 season ended a little too early for MSOE men's volleyball and they were determined to prevent another NACC tournament quarterfinals exit this season. The Red & White went to work and moved on to the next round with a straight sets win over Marian on Tuesday night.
RESULT
No. 5 Seed MSOE RAIDERS – 3 (25 | 25 | 25)
No. 4 Seed Marian – 0 (19 | 18 | 22)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fifth seeded MSOE (16-9, 9-3 NACC) set the tone for the evening against fourth seeded Marian (23-8, 9-3 NACC) by hitting .412 in their first set victory over the Sabres. The Raiders had a game high 18 kills and dismissed the home team 25-19.
- The Red & White kept up the pressure in the second frame with another 12 kills and jumped out to a 14-8 lead. The Sabres wouldn't pull within any more than five points in their worst loss of the night.
- The efficient Raiders offense kept chugging along and did what they needed to do to achieve the clean sweep, though it wasn't as easy as it was in the other two frames. Marian was able to tie the game at 20-20 before MSOE won five of the next seven points for the 25-22 win.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Raiders were able to avenge their 3-0 loss to Marian from earlier this season and are now 8-2 against them in their last ten meetings.
