HOW IT HAPPENED
- The home court advantage was shown immediately as Quincy (5-10, 0-6 MIVA) jumped out quickly to a 7-2 lead. The lead steady, but the Hawks but a nail in the coffin on the set finishing with a 7-0 run to take the first set 25-15.
- Things turned around in the second set as MSOE (4-10, 2-0 NACC) kept the Hawks within reach, as a 4-0 run including two service aces from Tommy Clausz gave the Raiders a 16-15 lead. The Raiders kept the momentum to finish off the set 25-22 to tie it at one set each.
- The same battle went into the third set as each side virtually trade points back and forth the whole way. As the set was tied 23 all, it was errors from the Raiders as a service error and attacking error was the final two points to give the Hawks the edge in the third set, taking it 25-23.
- The Hawks used the excitement into the fourth set as an 8-1 run gave them a huge advantage through the midway point. The Raiders couldn't make any run the rest of the way, as the Hawks finished off the victory taking the set 25-16.
RAIDER REMARKS
- This is the first match against the Hawks since 2019 when the Raiders fell in a 3-2 heartbreaker. However, the Red & White took the match the year before at home with a 3-0 sweep.
- This is the final match on the road-trip against a non-Division III school, as well as this season.
