Box Score MILWAUKEE – Returning to the Kern Center for the first time since February 8th, the MSOE men's volleyball team pull off a comeback thriller against Edgewood College.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
Edgewood - 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a slow start for each side with no team able to gain momentum to begin. As the set was tied at 17, a small 4-0 run from Edgewood (4-13, 0-4 NACC) looked to be what put them over the edge in the set, leading to a 25-20 set one victory.
- MSOE (5-11, 3-1 NACC) set the tone early in set two with a 3-0 lead to begin highlighted by a John Wolf service ace. As the Raiders led 14-12, a 5-0 filled with an attacking spree proved to the momentum they need, taking the second set 25-18.
- MSOE couldn't create rhythm offensively in the third set as they only had an attacking percentage of .091. They had a chance to still take the set as they were tied at 22, but a 3-0 run from Edgewood put them on top to take the third set. The battled carried into the fourth set, even pushing past the 25-point mark. While tied at 26, a huge kill Eric Mueller set up Ted Simpson to serve, clinching the set on a service ace to go to a fifth set.
- Tied at five to start the fifth set, two kills from Carter Shavitz gave them a two-point lead and the momentum they needed the rest of the way. The Eagles clawed back to be down 14-13, but another Shavitz killed sealed the game.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Raider offensive came to play when it was needed most as they had an attacking percentage of .333 in the final set, including zero errors.
