ADRIAN, Mich. – The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) released their 2025-26 preseason poll, voted on by the league's coaches, that saw the MSOE men's hockey team voted fifth.
St. Norbert College led the poll, receiving seven first-place votes, edging out Aurora University and Adrian College in second and third, who also received first-place votes. Trine University was voted fourth with the Raiders rounding out the top five.
After taking over as the interim midway through last season, the Brandon Richards era is now full effect this season after leading them to a 5-3-2 record, including a road upset win at #6 St. Norbert College where the Raiders scored four unanswered goals, all coming in the third period.
Both all-conference performers from a season ago return with
Seth Bernard and
Cole Beilke. Bernard recorded eight goals and nine assists, including five multi-point games. Beilke as a defenseman made five assists and scored four goals, having a multi-point game against University of Dubuque on January 18
th. The Raiders return their starting goaltender
Austin Schwab, who made 610 saves, including five 30+ save performances and three shutouts.
The Raiders will open their season on Halloween night, Friday October 31
st, at the College of St. Scholastica at 7:00 p.m. The following week, Friday, November 7
th, will be the home and conference opener against Lawrence University at 7:00 p.m.
