MILWAUKEE – Benedictine scored a pair of unanswered goals in the first half in handing the MSOE men's soccer team its first NACC loss of the season 2-1 Saturday afternoon at MSOE Field.

The Raiders (8-2-3, 4-1 NACC) had entered the match on an eight-match unbeaten streak, but that came to an end at the hand of an Eagles (6-5-1, 5-0-1 NACC) team that moved into first place in the NACC standings.

MSOE scored first, as sophomore Brock Shilling headed home a cross from senior Drew Porter in the 19th minute.

Unfortunately, the lead was short-lived as Julio Lopez scored the equalizer just 22 seconds later. He sent a long cross to the far post, which hit the post and bounced into the net to make it 1-1.

Benedictine would then take the lead in the 39th minute when Anes Kadiric got free in the box and headed home a cross from Lopez.

The lead would hold up, as the Raiders fought for the equalizer, but could not convert. They had the possession and attack advantage much of the day, but struggled to finish in the final third. MSOE outshot the Eagles 19-12 and had a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Sophomore Gerardo Rubio had the best for another Red and White goal. He ran on to a loose ball in the box, but his attempt hit the underside of the cross bar and bounced out and was cleared to safety.

Junior Garrett Farin made three saves in the match, while Zorohn Reed stopped two shots to get the win for BU.

The Raiders return to action Tuesday at MSOE Field. Aurora will come to campus for a 7 p.m. match.
