Raiders Score Early, Often To Down Rockford 7-0

Box Score

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The MSOE men's soccer team scored early and often, taking a 5-0 lead by the 18th minute, in rolling to 2-0 in NACC play with a 7-0 win over Rockford Wednesday evening at MSOE Field.

Sophomore Logan Andryk (Hartland, Wis. / Marquette) tallied a first half hat trick and added an assist over a 7:09 span, while four other also players found the back of the net for MSOE.

The Raiders (5-1-3, 2-0 NACC), playing in just their second home game of the season, are now unbeaten in their last five games.

Senior Mat Braden (Lake Villa, Ill. / Lakes Community) got the scoring started in the 10th minute, intercepting a short pass from the keeper to create a 1v1 opportunity that he converted on. That goal would hold up as the game-winner.

Just 44 seconds later, Andryk was taken down in the box and converted the ensuing penalty kick for his first score of the night. But first, he set up freshman Brock Shilling's (New Berlin, Wis / West) second goal of the season 1:06 after his PK, the Raiders' third goal in a span of 1:50.

Andryk was back at it in the 17th minute, accepting a pass from senior Drew Porter (Milwaukee, Wis. / Dominican), spinning through a pair of defenders and scoring. Then, he completed his hat trick just 45 seconds after that, dribbling around several defenders in the box to do so.

Freshman Gerardo Rubio (Rockford, Ill. / Auburn) gave MSOE a 6-0 first-half lead in the 29th minute, using a driving header to finish a Braden free kick into the box.

The scoring was capped in the second half, as freshman Aleksander Spasic (Hudson, Wis. / Hudson) scored his first goal off an assist from senior Jake Tenut (Carol Stream, Ill. / Glenbard North) in the 57th minute.

In the first half, the Raiders outshot the Regents 19-2 and put 12 of those shots on goal. For that match, the home side held a commanding 30-2 shot advantage and 11-1 edge in corner kicks.

All three MSOE keepers saw action in the match with each playing about 30 minutes to combine on the teams fourth shutout of the season.

Felipe Juarez made 11 saves for Rockford.

MSOE is back in action Saturday, traveling to Concordia Chicago to take on the Cougars at 1 p.m.
