Box Score MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's soccer team conceded a pair of goals early in the second half in falling to North Central 3-1 Wednesday evening at Viets Field.
The Raiders (8-3) overcame an early Cardinals' (6-3-1) 1-0 deficit to knot the score at halftime, but could not rebound from a pair of scores shortly after the break.
Freshman Silas Linares scored MSOE's lone tally on an assist from senior Drew Porter in the 43rd minute. Porter brought the ball in from the sideline, dribbling around a pair of NCC defenders, and slotted a ball to Linares. The Brazilian one-time the ball forcefully into the corner of the goal to tie the score at 1-1.
Matt Koth had opened the scoring in the 12th minute and added a goal in the 61st minute for some insurance for the Cardinals. It was also Koth who set up the game-winning goal, a Chandler Olah score in the 50th minute.
Despite a two-goal deficit, the Raiders continued to push forward late in the game and was inches from a much tighter game. Junior Logan Andryk had a shot rattle off the cross bar in the 10th minute, while Porter had a shot of his own find the post in the 17th.
In the closing minute of the match, Andryk saw a free kick from 23 yards out sail just high and effectively end the match.
MSOE led the shot category 16-12, but was only able to get three of those attempts on goal.
The Raiders return to the field Saturday at Wisconsin Lutheran. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
