MSOE Falls At Elmhurst 12-6

ELMHURST, Ill. - The MSOE lacrosse team scored a season-high six goals and conceded its fewest of the season in a 12-6 road loss to Elhmurst Saturday.

Freshman Andrew Clemens led the Raiders (0-4, 0-3) with a hat trick on a team-high 10 shots, while junior Zachary Dawiec scored twice. The Blue Jays (2-4, 1-1 MLC) got four goals from Alex Opyd and a hat trick from Mal Euson.

Elmhurst jumped out to a 5-0 lead, scoring four goals in the first quarter and striking first in the second.

The Raiders battled back with goals from Dawiec and sophomore Zachary Markell early in the frame. After another Blue Jay goal, Clemens struck for back-to-back goals 29 seconds apart to make it 6-4 heading into halftime.

The home team then pulled away with a decisive third quarter, scoring three times to open a 9-4 lead. It then pushed its lead to 10-4 with the first goal of the fourth quarter before Clemens capped his hat trick with 9:24 remaining.

The Blue Jays tallied two more goals, before Dawiec scored his second of the game late to make it 12-6.

Elmhurst outshot the Raiders 43-27. Senior Adam Kocsis made 15 saves in the game for MSOE. Tyler York stopped 11 saves for the win.

The Red and White are back in action Monday night, hosting Carthage at Viets Field.
