MSOE Rolls Past Maranatha 6-0

Box Score

WATERTOWN, Wis. – Sophomore Sara Travia scored two goals and assisted on another as the MSOE women's soccer team rolled to a 6-0 victory over Maranatha Baptist Wednesday afternoon on the MBU campus.

The Raiders (4-1-1) outshot the Sabercats (1-4-1) by a 32-3 count, sending 24 shots on goal in the match.

MSOE peppered the Maranatha goal with shots early and often in the match and broke through for the game's first score on Travia's first score in the 14th minute. She made a long run through the heart of the defense and finished at the far post.

Junior Natalie Gayner then got on the scoreboard for the third-straight game, taking a pass from freshman Carly Mitus and beating the keeper 1v1 just 3:31 later.

The Red & White added goals in quick succession again later in the half, as freshman Kassidy Girmscheid scored her first collegiate goal at 38:49 and Travia nabbed her second goal 3:15 later.

In the first half, the Raiders rang up 20 shots and put 14 of those on goal. It was much of the same in the second half, as the team got every active player on the roster into the match.

Junior Caitlin Liddiard opened up the second-half scoring in the 53rd minute with her fifth goal of the season, taking a through ball from Travia and beating the keeper. Freshman Missy Schultz then capped the scoring in the game's final minute with a head off a cross from junior Alex Klonis.

All four MSOE keepers saw action, as sophomore Sydney Stephens made the start and saved the only shot she faced in 26:08 of action. Junior Margot Giesey closed out the first half and also made a save. Sophomore Haley Anderson and freshman Mary McFee split the second half, with neither needing to make a save.

Michala Marino played all 90 minutes for the Sabercats, making 18 saves in the match.

The Raiders return to action Saturday, opening up NACC play when Marian comes to Viets Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
