Box Score ALMA, Mich. – The MSOE lacrosse team allowed four unanswered goals in falling to Alma 7-3 Sunday afternoon at Bahlke Field.
The Raiders (3-5) scored first and were tied with the Scots (7-3) 3-3 late in the second quarter before the home team scored the final four goals of the game to pull away.
Freshman Thomas Reid scored just 2:26 into the game. Senior Brent Finnegan and freshman Clay Gustafson scored consecutive goals in the second quarter to round out the MSOE goal scorers.
Quentin Ellis scored twice for Alma.
After Reid got the scoring started, the Scotts scored a pair of early goals to take a 2-1 lead. That would account for the last scoring of the opening frame.
The home team extended its lead to 3-1 before Gustafson scored an up goal with 7:45 remaining in the second quarter. Finnegan then tied the score with a goal of his own 3:18 later.
Ellis notched his second goal with 1:19 remaining in the opening half and the Scots added another goal just three seconds before the horn to take a 5-3 lead into halftime.
Alma added two more insurance goals in the third quarter before a scoreless fourth quarter.
Freshman Pat Collins made 12 saves in goal to allow a season-low seven goals for the second-straight match.
Senior Jesus Arguelles had a team-best five ground balls, while Gustafson and freshman Oliver Winsor had four ground balls each.
The Raiders return to the field Wednesday at former conference rival Carthage Wednesday.
