Box Score CINCINNATI – The No. 12 MSOE men's volleyball team attacked at just a .022 for the match in falling to No. 13 Mount St. Joseph 25-17, 25-18, 25-16 Sunday afternoon at the Harrington Center.
The Raiders (16-11, 7-6 MCVL) did not hit above .100 in any of the three sets against the Lions (18-8, 11-3 MCVL).
Freshman Neil Naughton led the team with 10 kills and senior Nick Manning added seven.
Alec King tallied a match-best 13 kills, while MSJ had two other players notch six each.
MSOE attacked at a .059 clip in the opening frame and topped out at .094 in the second set. It then had 10 errors in the final period against just seven kills for a -.130 hitting percentage. For the match, the Red & White had a season-low 28 kills in the match and 26 errors.
Mount St. Joseph, meanwhile, hit .271 for the match, culminating with a .333 clip in the final set.
With the loss, the Raiders slipped into a tie for the fourth and final MCVL Tournament place with Lakeland at 7-6. Both teams close out the regular season Wednesday, with MSOE hosting Benedictine and the Muskies hosting No. 15 Dominican. Both matches start at 7 p.m.
LC holds the tiebreaker between the teams, meaning the Raiders will have to win and see Lakeland lose to secure a bid in the inaugural MCVL Tournament.
