Box Score MILWAUKEE – Senior Logan Andryk is alone as the school's all-time leading scorer and junior Jeff Clements made five saves for his first shutout as the MSOE men's soccer team defeated Carroll 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Viets Field.
Andryk scored the game's second goal to take sole possession of first place in school history with 136 career points. It was his team-high sixth goal of the season and the 46th of his career.
The Raiders (5-2) played a patient and methodical match in defeating the Pioneers (2-4-1) for the first time.
Sophomore Braden Andryk tallied the eventual game-winner in the 18th minute, capitalizing on a 1v1 off a long goal kick. Senior Mike Skow's free kick reached midfield and was flicked on by senior Jorn Witte. Andryk ran on to the ball and calmly found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season.
The elder Andryk doubled MSOE's advantage in the 37th minute, picking off a pass along the Carroll back line. The interception put him 1v1 with the keeper and he picked his spot just inside the post to make it 2-0.
The Raiders seemed content with the scoreline, limiting any Pioneer opportunities forward and maintaining possession for a good portion of the second half.
Senior Jerry Rubio tacked on an insurance goal in the 81st minute. Logan Andryk took a long throw-in towards the endline, which Rubio out-maneuvered a defender to keep in bounds. He cut inside and calmly deposited the ball inside the far post.
Clements commanded the defense in front of him well, taking care of any CU threats. It was the first shutout of his career, coming in his second start.
MSOE and Carroll tied in shots 9-9 and the visitors had the slight 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Raiders return to the field Wednesday, opening NACC play at Edgewood.
