Box Score MILWAUKEE – Senior Logan Andryk scored two goals and assisted on a third as the MSOE men's soccer team held off Concordia Wisconsin 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Viets Field.
The Raiders (7-2, 2-0 NACC) built a 3-0 lead, but had to withstand a late attack by the Falcons (6-2-1, 1-1 NACC), who pulled back two goals and seemed to have the mate momentum.
Andryk assisted on the first goal of the day, setting up his brother, sophomore Braden Andryk, in the 10th minute. The elder Andryk sent a through ball down the left flank and Braden one-touched a shot far post and into the goal for his team-leading 10th goal of the season.
Logan would double his side's advantage with a free kick from 20 yards in the 17th minute. He lined up for a shot from the middle of the field and tucked his attempt under the crossbar for a 2-0 Red & White lead.
MSOE threatened to break the game open with two dangerous chances just moments apart early in the second half. Sophomore Sean Tabbert rattled the post with a shot in the 51st minute and senior Mike Skow had a header on an open goal cleared off the line by a defender.
The lead would eventually extend to 3-0 when Logan Andryk struck again from the penalty spot in the 54th minute. It was Braden Andryk that earned the PK with a dynamic run into the box that forced a CUW defender to take him down.
Concordia would not go away, getting on the board with a Sean Cropper goal in the 69th minute. Juan Serna then pulled another goal back for the visitors just under seven minutes later.
The Falcons then threatened for the equalizer late, carrying the game's momentum into the final minute. It was then that junior Justin Johnson won a ball in the defensive half, shrugging off a blatant pull-back attempt and effectively running out the clock with his run at goal.
MSOE held a 14-11 shot advantage in the match. Junior Jeff Clements made three saves to get the win in goal, while Killian Mielotz made one save for CUW.
The Raiders return to the field Wednesday, hosting Marian.
