Box Score MILWAUKEE – Junior Braden Andryk notched two goals and assisted on a third for the second time this week as the MSOE men's soccer team defeated Rockford 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Viets Field.
The Raiders (6-5, 3-1 NACC) were never really challenged in the match with the Regents (5-5-1, 1-3 NACC), dominating possession and nabbing three goals after halftime.
In addition to Andryk's output, freshman Zach Blair netted his first collegiate goal, while sophomore Stephen Bagin added a goal of his own and junior Brandon Herman tallied a pair of assists.
Some nice linking play through the midfield sprang Andryk for his first goal. Diagonal one-touch passes from juniors Sean Tabbert and Gregory Borsari put Andryk through into the box and he slotted a hard shot inside the far post to make it 1-0 in the 16th minute.
The score remained the same until two quick goals just over two minutes apart in the 73rd and 75th minutes. Bagin finally broke through for the team's second goal after Herman chased down a through ball from Andryk to the end line. Herman then slid a cross through the box leading to a Bagin tap-in at the far post.
Herman and Andryk then connected just 2:04 later after Herman played a ball forward out of the midfield. The Rockford defender could not get a foot on the ball, leaving an on-rushing Andryk free for a 1v1 with the keeper, which he won.
Blair capped the scoring with just 37 seconds remaining, running on to a deft through ball from sophomore Santi Ossa and capping the scoring.
The Raiders held a decisive 23-4 shot advantage in the match, including 15-4. In addition to allowing just four shots, the Red & White defense did not concede a shot on goal, making light work for senior Jeff Clements and freshman Patrick Grund to maintain the shutout. Clements got the start and claimed the win with 75:18 of work.
MSOE faces no break, returning to the field Sunday with a non-league matchup at UW-Platteville.
