LISLE, Illinois – Junior Mikey Perez struck for two goals and senior Jeff Clements made nine saves to lead the MSOE men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Benedictine Saturday evening at the Sports Complex.

The Raiders (10-6, 5-2 NACC) handed the Eagles (10-4-1, 6-1 NACC) their first league loss and snapped their nine-game unbeaten streak (8-0-1).

Perez gave his team the lead against the run of play in just the 10th minute, then added the game-winner in the 57th minute. Junior Gregory Borsari added a goal of his own, as the Red & White became the first team to put in three goals on the BenU defense this season.

The scoring opened on MSOE's first shot of the game and gave the visitors the lead until Benedictine leveled the score in the 37th minute and teams went into halftime tied at 1-1.

That scoreline lasted less than seven minutes as Borsari scored on a rebound just over four minutes after the break and Perez followed with his second goal in the 57th minute off an assist from junior Sean Tabbert.

The Eagles made the game interesting, answering just 16 seconds later to pull within 3-2. The MSOE defense then came up big, making the one-goal advantage standup.

Clements was the anchor of a solid defensive effort. The Raiders faced a 27-11 shot deficit, but that falls to just 11-8 in shots on goal, as the back line put together a solid effort in front of the senior keeper to limit the home team's chances.

MSOE returns to the field at Lakeland Wednesday.
