Box Score

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Sophomore Thomas Reid scored three goals to lead the MSOE lacrosse team in action in its season-opener, a 17-6 loss against Augustana Saturday afternoon at Thorson-Lucken Field.

The Raiders (0-1) conceded the first five goals of the game to the Vikings (2-4) and trailed by as much as 17-2 before scoring four unanswered goals to close out the game.

Reid had scored two goals with two assists in his first game last season and found similar results Saturday. He opened the team's scoring ledger with 12:27 remaining in the second quarter to make it 5-1, then added a pair of goals in the team's late barrage in the fourth quarter.

Sophomores Clay Gustafson, Oliver Kennedy and Oliver Winsor also found the back of the net for the Raiders. Gustafson added two assists on the day.

Sophomore Pat Collins made four saves in the game, as the Red & White was outshot 54-15 in the match. The Raiders did force 20 turnovers, but conceded deficits of 20-6 in face-offs and 42-24 in ground balls.

Four different goalies saw time in the net for Augie, with Jack Peters making one save over three quarters for the win.

MSOE gets back after it Wednesday, hosting Clarke in the first of eight-straight home games. The run represents the whole of the team's home schedule this season.
