Box Score MILWAUKEE - The MSOE lacrosse team fell to Kalamazoo 5-4 Wednesday evening at Viets Field in the midst of a downpour.
The Raiders (1-3) got two goals from sophomore Thomas Reid on four shots, but could not overcome the Hornets (3-1) in the midst of less than ideal conditions.
MSOE led 2-0 in the first half on goals from Zack Markell (unassisted) and Thomas Reid, assisted by Clay Gustafson. In the 2nd period it was all Kalamazoo as they stormed back to tie up the score. In the 3rd period Kalamazoo added to their total while holding the Raiders scoreless. In the last period MSOE sparked a comeback on two quick goals from Thomas Reid and Clay Gustafson. However, the lead was short-lived as the Hornets answered back with a goal with 7:15 left and eventually the game winner with 2:33 left in the game.
The Raiders won 10-of-13 face-offs in the match and led with a 22-19 shot advantage over the visiting Hornets. Sophomore Pat Collins made ten saves in the Red & White net.
Zach Morales led the Hornets with two goals and assisted on both the tying and then the game winning goal.
MSOE is back in action Saturday, hosting Cornell College at 2 p.m.
