Box Score MEQUON, Wis. – Senior Zach Markell scored four goals and sophomore Oliver Kennedy added two as the MSOE lacrosse team fell to Concordia Wisconsin 17-7 Wednesday afternoon at Fitting Field.
The Raiders (5-6, 1-3 MLC) pulled within 4-3 early in the second quarter, but the Falcons (10-3, 3-0 MLC) pulled away with five-straight goals to take control of the game.
Kennedy added an assist, while sophomore Thomas Reid scored one goal and had a pair of assists in the match.
Marino Best led CUW with 11 points on seven goals and four assists.
Concordia Wisconsin led 4-1 after one quarter before Kennedy and Markell each struck for goals in the first three minutes of the second period to pull within 4-3. Unfortunately, the home team responded with three goals in a 1:33 span to kick-straight a 5-0 run of goals to open a 9-3 advantage.
The Raiders battled back, with Markell scoring at 3:14 and Kennedy with just five seconds before halftime to make it 9-5 at the break.
CUW then pulled away with a 5-2 advantage in third-quarter scoring and three goals in the fourth quarter.
Sophomore Patrick Collins made eight saves in the game, while Garrett Wohlford stopped 12 of the 19 Red & White shots on goal.
The Falcons held a shot advantage of 47-26 and led in ground balls, 39-21, but MSOE committed seven less turnovers (21-14).
Collins led the team with six ground balls in the game, while seniors Zach Markell and James Simonson caused two turnovers each.
The Raiders are back in action Sunday at Aurora.
