Box Score MILWAUKEE – Senior Brandon Herman scored two goals, but it was not enough as the MSOE men's soccer team fell to Concordia Wisconsin 3-2 in overtime Wednesday evening at Viets Field.
The Raiders (9-5, 5-3 NACC) had led 1-0 and 2-1 in the match, but the Falcons (9-3-3, 7-1 NACC) escaped with the victory on Luis Loya's game-winner in the 94th minute.
Herman opened the game's scoring in the 29th minute, tracking a long free kick from sophomore Zach Hanson towards the goal. Near the top of the six-yard box the ball hit the ground and Herman tucked a shot into the net for a 1-0 lead.
The score would remain 1-0 at halftime before a flurry of goal activity awaited to start the second half.
CUW pulled even for the first time in the game in the 50th minute on a blast from 30 yards out. That goal came at 49:01.
Just 17 seconds later, Herman cancelled out that score with his second goal of the game. Senior Sean Tabbert took a shot in the box that Herman got a back heel on and re-directed into the goal to re-establish the lead at 2-1.
In the 68th minute, the Falcons converted a header off a corner kick to tie the score one more time.
That was the end of scoring in regulation. In overtime, CUW took three shots in the first three-plus minutes, including Loya's winner. He took a throw-in at the sideline and was able to work his way into the box and found his shot to end the game.
The visitors had a 22-8 shot advantage in the match and led 5-1 on corner kicks. Junior Riley Bruce stopped six shots on the night in goal.
MSOE returns to the field Saturday at Aurora.
