AURORA, Illinois - The MSOE men's soccer team fell to Aurora 3-1 in a road league contest Saturday night at Spartan Athletic Park.

The Raiders (9-6, 5-4 NACC) could not get much going on offense against the Spartans (10-7, 5-3 NACC), but pulled within 2-1 with 15 remaining before a quick AU answer put the game away.

Freshman Lucas D'Amato scored for MSOE. Senior Sean Tabbert took a quick free kick to restart play, sending a ball down the near sideline. Senior Braden Andryk ran onto the ball and crossed a pass to the middle of the penalty area. The ball found its way to the top of the box where D'Amato was to blast it into the goal.

The Red & White answer came in the 75th minute and cut its deficit to 2-1. Unfortunately, the home side added to its lead just over five minutes later to put the game out of reach.

The Spartans opened the scoring in the dying minutes of the first half, striking for the game's first goal just over two minutes before halftime. They added to their lead with another tally in the 66th minute.

Aurora held a 16-13 advantage in shots and 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

Junior Riley Bruce made four saves in goal for MSOE.

The Raiders close out the regular season at home against Lakeland Wednesday. They are currently tied for fourth in the NACC with a game in hand over AU and Edgewood. MSOE needs to take a point away from Wednesday's game to guarantee a place in the 2017 NACC Tournament.
