WAUKESHA, Wisconsin – Junior Oliver Kennedy had five goals and two more players tallied four goals each as the MSOE lacrosse team routed Carroll 21-0 for its first win of the season Wednesday evening at Schneider Stadium.

The Raiders (1-4) outshot the Pioneers (3-6) 51-11 in the game and shut them out for the second-straight meeting.

Kennedy added two assists for seven points in the match. Junior Clay Gustafson finished with eight points on four goals and four assists while freshman Collin Fisher had four goals and two assists.

Junior Oliver Winsor also had a hat trick with three goals. Junior Thomas Reid and freshman Harrison Davis scored two goals each.

Junior Pat Collins and freshman Colin Hall split the game in goal, combining on five saves for the shutout.

In addition to a sizable shot advantage, the Raiders also won 19-of-23 face-offs. Freshman Brett Laffey was 15-of-16 on face-offs in the game.

MSOE scored three goals in the first period, then stepped up production over the final three periods. The team struck for five goals in the second quarter, including a pair of scores just seven seconds apart and three in a 1:34 span, to take an 8-0 lead into halftime.

The Red & White then scored just 16 seconds into the second half and twice in the first minute as part of a seven-score third quarter. The team stayed on the gas through the final quarter, scoring six more times.

This is the fourth 20-goal game and the fourth shutout in program history for the Raiders. The 21 goals are the second-most in a game in school history, trailing only the 22 scored against Carroll last season.

With his eight points, Gustafson is now three points from becoming the program's all-time leading scorer. His 118 points trail on the 121 scored by Brent Finnegan from 2012-15.

MSOE returns to the field Saturday at Fontbonne in its league opener.
