Box Score MILWAUKEE – Three different players scored two goals but the MSOE lacrosse team fell to Beloit 12-7 Wednesday evening at Viets Field.
The Raiders (2-5, 1-1 MLC) looked to rally from a 6-1 deficit against the Buccaneers (5-2, 3-0 MLC), pulling within 6-4 at halftime before three-straight goals to open the second half seemingly put the game out of reach.
Junior Oliver Winsor and freshmen Harrison Davies and Collin Fisher scored two goals each. Junior Clay Gustafson added a goal to score a point in his 25th-straight games.
Nick Meisberger and Michael Boyland had three goals each for Beloit.
The visitors opened the scoring with the first three goals of the first quarter before Davies got the Red & White on the board. The Bucs then answered with three-straight scores for a 6-1 lead just under three minutes into the second period.
Gustafson pulled the first goal back at 6:21, then Fisher followed with an up goal at 3:15, and Davies struck again just 1:30 before halftime.
Beloit seized back momentum to start the second half, re-extending its lead with a goal at 12:36, then another just over two minutes later. Meisberger then made it 9-4 at 7:09.
Fisher did score MSOE's second up goal of the game to end the third-quarter scoring but BC opened the fourth quarter with back-to-back scores.
The Raiders kept fighting, with Winsor scoring back-to-back acrobatic goals of his own but they came too late. BC tacked a late insurance goal to seal the game.
Shots were 38-30 in favor of the visitors, who also committed five less turnovers (37-32).
Junior Pat Collins made nine saves on the night. A pair of goalies combined on 11 stops for the Buccaneers.
The Raiders return to the field Saturday, hosting Monmouth.
