Box Score MEQUON, Wis. – All good things must come to an end. MSOE men's soccer opened up the season with 11 straight games without a loss, but everything changed this afternoon against Concordia Wisconsin. The Raiders were victims of two penalty kick goals that dealt them their first blow of the year in a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
Concordia Wisconsin – 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (10-0-1, 5-0 NACC) took on a struggling Concorida Wisconsin (4-2-4, 1-2-3 NACC) team on the road but the Raiders knew that they were still a very dangerous squad to go up against. The Red & White got on the board first when Daniel D'Amato assisted on a Nathan Dresen goal in the 8th minute to make it 1-0 good guys.
- Unfortunately, a yellow card inside the box led to a Falcons penalty kick shot that evened up the score at 1-1 just a few minutes later. The Raiders proceeded to take a total of 14 shots in the half, but the score was still all knotted up heading into halftime.
- The penalty kick would rear its ugly head again in the second half and CUW took a 2-1 lead off a successful conversion in the 73rd minute.
- The Red & White tried to find the equalizer and had some quality chances as time ticked down but couldn't get anything to go as they suffer their first loss of the 2022 season.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Raiders and Falcons have been very evenly matched over the past ten games but the Red & White still hold the edge with a 5-3-2 record.
