Raiders Chop Down Lumberjacks

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – Coming off their first loss of the season, MSOE men's lacrosse was looking to start fresh when they welcomed Northland to Viets Field. The Raiders had no issues getting back in the win column as they tossed aside the Lumberjacks with an 11 goal win on a very chilly Saturday afternoon.

RESULT
Northland – 13
MSOE RAIDERS – 2

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • MSOE (2-1) dominated play in this afternoon's matchup against Northland (1-1), though the first quarter could be deceiving on the scoresheet. The Raiders struck first with a Soren Savard goal from Liam Brown but that would be the only tally in the opening 15 minutes.
  • It was the second frame where the Raiders really lit up the scoreboard. After a Lumberjacks goal to open the quarter, the Red & White rattled off seven straight unanswered. This run included a natural hat trick from Tanner Whipps, two from Peter Ruschenberg, and one a piece from Sam Thompson and Savard.
  • The Raiders continued to pour it on after the intermission and netted three more tallies before Northland would finally get one of their own to begin the fourth quarter. Savard completed the second MSOE hat trick of the day and Liam Brown, Riley Woyatas, and Ruschenberg added the rest of the second half offense in the Raiders 13-2 thumping of the Jacks.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • The Red & White are 3-0 against Northland all time and have won those games by a combined score of 49-9.
  • The Raiders won all 19 faceoffs in the contest this afternoon tying the program's single game record for face-off percentage (1.000)
