Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Sophomore Logan Andryk (Hartland, Wis. / Marquette) scored one goal and assisted on two more as the MSOE men's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 victory over Marian in its NACC opener Saturday.
The Raiders (4-1-3, 1-0 NACC) scored three times in the first 10 minutes and its defense did the rest in opening conference play with a dominating performance over the Sabres (3-2-1, 0-1 NACC).
Andryk got the Red and White on the board in just the fifth minute of an assist from freshman Andrew Swiecichowski (New Berlin, Wis. / Eisenhower). Swiecichowski found Andryk with a short cross and he finished at the far post for the eventual game-winner.
Freshman Henry Nuckles (Wausau, Wis. / East) doubled MSOE's lead just 92 seconds later, running ion to a loose ball and blasting it into the Marian net. Then, senior Drew Porter (Milwaukee, Wis. / Dominican) made it 3-0 in only the ninth minute with his fourth goal of the season, heading in an Andryk corner.
Senior Patrick Gathof (Beloit, Wis. / Memorial) capped the scoring in the 64th minute, finishing another Andryk corner kick.
For the second time this season, all three MSOE goalkeepers saw action. Junior Garrett Farin (Madison, Wis. / East) got the start and made a save for the win in 35 minutes. Freshman Jeff Clements (North Vancouver, BC / St. Thomas Aquinas) followed and played a scoreless 28:14 before giving way to freshman Sean Stelter (Brown Deer, Wis. / Brown Deer), who closed out the shutout.
The Raiders outshot Marian 9-5 and took six of the game's 10 corner kicks. They put five shots on frame and Jameson Hoerter made one save for the Sabres.
After playing seven of its first eight matches away from home, and going 4-0-3 in those games, MSOE will get a long-awaited home game its next time out Wedesday. The Raiders will host Rockford at 7 p.m.
